Welcome to the Department of Mathematics at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Our faculty come
from all over the world and have a strong commitment to both research and teaching.
The department has active research groups in various areas of Mathematics and
Mathematics Education. It has
played host to several national and international research conferences, in addition to the regional Fall
Conference held every year. Please join us for any talks that may be of interest
to you.

The department offers a plethora of courses at the undergraduate level,
leading to majors in Mathematics (A.B. or B.S.) or in
Mathematics and Statistics. Teacher licensure is also an option. Students may pursue a minor in Mathematics, which interfaces well with many others
major programs. There are also opportunities for undergraduates to do supervised research under the
direction of a faculty member.

The department has long been recognized for its high quality graduate programs.
Presently, there are four degree programs
offered, according to the specific interests of the individual student. Our students come from undergraduate
institutions all over the country and world. The size of the department and the program affords graduate students the
opportunity to work closely with faculty on individual projects.
